NOTICE:
RE:
To the Heirs of Ballí Spanish Land Grants
Reminder of October 04, 2008 Balli Family Meeting & Protest

Texas House of Representatives member Juan Manuel Escobar will be our guest speaker. Mr. Escobar represents the following Counties: Jim Hogg, Brooks, Kleberg, Kenedy, Willacy and part of Cameron that includes South Padre Island. He took his oath of office on January 11, 2005 to begin his 2nd term in the 79th Legislature. He is a direct descendant of Jose Maria Escobar, who founded the Escobar’s settlement in 1753. Mr. Escobar will be speaking of joining and helping us in our efforts.

Below are other key points of interest that will be covered at the meeting:

Rene Escobar, Author of, "The Ballí Family - Reynosa and Matamoros" will present a Power Point presentation of our book. The Ballí book can be purchased at the meeting.

Dee Dee King, Certified Genealogist, has processed several hundred documents for many family members and she will continue to search for connections. At the meeting she will explain the importance of this process.

David Ballí will unveil and give a brief history of the Coat of Arms that the book and web site will adopt as the official Ballí emblem. David will also answer any questions or concerns about the Ballí Family website.

I am sure most of you are aware of the Texas Supreme Court ruling that occurred on August 29, 2008 that overturned the Padre Island case in favor of Kerlin. The court ruled that some heirs of Padre Nicolas Balli waited too long to try to recover oil and gas royalties from Kerlin. The judgment reversed a victory the family won in 2005. Those family members that settled in 2005 got their land, oil and gas royalties.

Fred Ballí, Gloria Gibney, Connie Sauceda, Richard Ballí, Gus Aranda and Nick Ballí will hold discussions on the attorney search and on current attorneys involved in all Ballí land grant issues. We must stand up for our rights! Time is running out on La Barreta and we must do something before September 2, 2009 or the same will happen to us as on the Padre Island case. Come join us and follow our next plan of action.

Time has come for those that have committed to buying tickets to turn in their checks or money orders. Make payable to Balli Family Organization. We are also asking you to submit questions you’d like answered at the meeting. Send your questions with your checks or money orders. Those of you that have not bought tickets, only a few tickets remain. Below are the names and phone numbers of members that have tickets:

I am ready. Are you?

Respectfully yours,
